ET Key Empty ET Key

Post  {GTB} RAM Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:31 am

Hi all
my young son likes to play on the server and his player name is BENTRAVIS which he selects in the profile before playing,
However it appears its only the name that changes my admin level stays with him.
How can I get round this...thanks RAM

You just have to manually move the ETkey from teh etmain folder to a safe hiding place.
ETkey is the way players are identified. Each ETkey is different and one computer usually has one etkey. if you don't want him to have your admin level then you must move the etkey from your etmain folder to somewhere safe until you need it again.

better to have more than one copy in case one gets lost.

thanks for the info urms
I guess it raises the question if anybody is bothered if he does have my admin level, if not I can leave things as they are.
Bearing in mind he is only six he has no idea about admin stuff (nor have I lol) he just likes a bit of on screen action and he only goes on about three times a week for an hour at a time tops...cheers Ram

The best way I found to do this was to make a new folder in your C drive and then run etfrom there.

That way you get a new ETKey.

You could even have two shortcuts on your desktop called Dad and Ben or whatever.

It just makes life easier than changing keys all the time.

I think that's how Slayer does it now with Ubique and Bubbles.

Anyway, an amazing player for such a young age and a good example of why we should keep the bad language filter on.

I would never have guessed his age.
