Punkbuster

I just decided to play Wolfenstein one fine day but when i connected it disconnected after a few seconds with a problem. It told me "Server Disconnected - PunkBuster kicked player '{GTB} birra' (for 0 minutes) ... RESTRICTION Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrA.exe" What the hell does it mean? It NEVER came before. I jsut tried again today and still the same. What do i do? PLease reply!!

Maybe you have to update ur PB otherwise it will keep on with kicking u if i am right u can update it here : www.punkbuster.com and look in the list for Enemy Territory
I hope that will do it And see you in the server if the problem is solved

its easyier to update tho, just go to your wolfenstein folder.
there will be a folder called pb, open it.
there will be a file called pbweb just double-click it and punktbuster will start looking for the right updates.
be patient, it might just take a while.

If those things desont work!!! do this go to ur firewall and allow punkbusterA.exe and punkbusterB.exe, cause if ur firewall is blocking one of those u cant play ull always get hendshiking problem or something like that :D!!! hope that works!!

Help!! i still have a problem with punkbuster. i tried to download and update from www.punkbuster.com but still the game didnt work. i tried to update from the pb folder from ET and still didnt work. Then i reinstalled the game. it worked....temporarily...because after a few minutes it disconnected and the same error came up again. I checked my internet security and it allows ET and punkbusterA.exe. What do i do?? is there still a solution??

The only thing thing I can think of apart from the pbweb update is if you are using VISTA run the program as an administrator.

or just put out UAC, if i put on UAC (with vista) i cant play et giving me an error aswell, might be worth a try

Make sure it allows ET, PnkBstrA AND PnkBstrB.
If they all are,forget about this post. ^_^

I dont have Vista, i have XP. Relating to AOD mathi, he said that my internet security must allow ET, punbusterA AND punbusterB. After looking through its history, i only found ET and punkbusterA, i didnt see anything relating to punkbusterB. So?

put the maps on some folder
reinstall ET
put the maps back to etmain

Okay birra heres what u need to do: (sorry i have my pc in spanish so ill try my best to explain it to you)

1. go to menu -> go to "Search!!!"

2. once ur in search-> go to the option of "All files and folders!!!"

3. In all or part of the file name: Write PnkBstr, and in Look in: u put My PC

4. press search and punkbusterA and punkbuster B will apear!!! look at thier addres!!! ull need it to add it to ur firewall!!!

after this process open your firewall!!!

5. u add punkbusterB!!! or PunkbusterA to ur firewall

6. Once allowed, u can play again!!!

PS: this problem is only for: client handshake failure pnkbstrB.exe han or RESTRICTION Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrA.exe" something like that but its alwalys good to do this to not have this problem in the future!!! Ohh!! also update ur pb!!! that may help too!!!

you also can disable you're firwall first to see of this is the problem.

i did search. nothing came up. i dont use windows firewall AND its deactivated. i use Norton Internet Security. and like i said before, it allows ET and punbusterA but i see nothing relating to punbusterB.

ok ok forget my previous message. i just didnt search well. it found punkbusterA and punkbusterB under "Application" type of program. however i dont know how to find its address. and i have another small problem. when posting these replies, when i enter my name {GTB} birra in the username field and i click send it tells me that this username has been taken and i have to use birra. Why is it saying this? it never came before.

agree with whats been said however as i just reinstalled the game recently , my PB wouldnt manually update by clicking on the pbweb in PB folder..

EvenBalance seem to have come up with a new version for manual updates for the PB folder called PBSetup can be downloaded here. just scroll down for the download and walkthrough.

Also as has been said look in your firewall program control and tick the

PnkBstrA.exe
PnkBstrB.exe

boxes.

Ok if i didnt understand wrong u found punkbusterA and punkbusterB!!!, u dont need windows firewall u can also allow it in norton or panda or whatever...

Now what u do is u go to nortorn, there u will have firewall im sure, double click on it, and add punkbusterA (if u dont have it added) and punkbusterB...

then run et!!! and playyy!!!

just an added bit..

cant say this for all firewalls but in mine i need to give permissions for PnkbstrA.exe and PnkbstrB.exe everytime it updates... a right royal pain in the but... suppose i should just play in game mode

Firstly Turn MSN or Xfire on so people can get hold of you man.

Secondly.

Are you running Vista or XP

If vista make sure you are running the program as administrator.

Xfire is on!
and I'm running XP and I am the administrator

I could do with one, not many people can seem to find a fix for this problem it seems

Either that or shout very loudly at your pc then sulk and sulk until your wife lets you have a new one.

Can you get a screenshot of the kick message so that i can ask punkbuster about it.
