Punkbuster

Hello all
just out of interest I would love to hear from other members who experience lagg when Punkbuster is active on the server, you know like a who does who does'nt
My own experience's with PB have always been positive and I don't ever recall getting lagg when playing under PB.
I have though occasionally struggled with lagg when playing with a lot of bots on.

I have always lag lol, so i really dont know if punkbuster is also a reason for the lag, but to be honest my pc sucks monkey balls.

I didn't have any problems during punkbuster on the server.
It didn't made me lag,
only once.. but my PC memory was overloaded.

I very rarely have problems with lag with or without PB.

I have turned it off at present because everyone seemed to be experiencing lag about a week ago.

There are many reasons for lag:

Flamethrowers, Artillery, Airstrikes, bots, mortars etc etc.

Too much of any of these will lag the server as it has to provide information to every player about what they can see.

Lots of flames and explosions will add significantly to what has to be drawn.

Take my advice, get a knife out and run wild.

Happy to put PB on again if that's what is wanted.

PB and NQ have never been the best of friends though.

well thats three interesting comments so far from three top players and none seem to suffer lagg via punkbuster (not proven anyway)

I always get lag whenever there's a message in the copnsole saying something like "received information from master server at evenbalance.com or whatever" and my fps goes very low. Or if PB is enabled, i get these spikes of lag which also screw up my perfect 43 fps.

Lol 43 means lag to me, i have 76 fps max

That is PB sending all the details about you to the server to see if it's ok, then PB sending the message back saying yes you are ok, or else it kicks you if not.

If I remember right this happens every 60 seconds or there abouts.

And yeah , i experienced a lag to like 1 1/2 week ago?
Slayer and me had a hard lag.
Than granny removed PB and the lagg was over.

I think that lagg was just temporary..

I rarely have lag and when I do it's for a very short period of time but i dont know if it's due to PB or not.

Looking at what Granny said, perhaps it good that our server isnt TOO FAMOUS as lots of players will lag the server or the player, like EEF.

As far as I know the server should comfortably cope with 32 real players before experiencing any lag.

Bot's are different (I think) because it is the server generating everything they do.

They don't "Think" but they do follow instructions that the server is telling every single one of them.

Only ever had Lag on the server once and it lasted for 2 days but PB wasn`t on so couldn`t have been that.

I know we get more players when PB is of but we also get more of the wrong type of players which means the Admins have there work cut out.
